Recreational Classes

About

Our Recreational classes are designed with fun in mind! However at CWDA we believe that fun should never mean a sacrifice in terms of quality. Students in our recreational programs will receive quality technical dance training in a fun and supportive environment. This is a great way to try a new dance style, develop a skill, make new friends and enjoy a fun form of exercise!

Musical Theatre (6+)

This fun class exposes students to the world of musical theatre through use of Broadway show tunes and music. This dance focused class will allow children to explore different styles of musical theatre choreography and acting. ​Some vocal will work will also be incorporated. 

Hip Hop (7+)

Hip Hop dance has taken the world by storm. Come and see what all the fuss is about and learn more about this dynamic and fun urban dance style which has its roots in street dance and hip hop music culture. 

Boys Only (5-8)

No girls allowed in this specially designed program to introduce boys to the amazing world of dance and movement. Boys will get to explore aspects of Hip Hop, Jazz, Theatre, Strength Training and more in this exciting and engaging class designed with your active and busy boy in mind. 

Uniform Requirements

Musical Theatre:

  • Any colour body suit, tank top or t-shirt 

  • Black Leggings or Shorts

  • Black Leather Slip On Jazz Shoes

  • Hair Pulled back off the face

Hip Hop:

  • Tank Top or T-shirt

  • Comfortable pants that can be danced in- leggings, sweats and shorts all acceptable

  • Indoor Hip Hop Shoes 

  • Hair Pulled back off the face

Boys Only: 

  • Solid colour T-shirt

  • Black Shorts 

  • Socks

  • Black Leather Slip On Jazz Shoes and optional Hip Hop Shoes

Recital Participation

All of our full year recreational programs will participate in our year end recital. Students begin learning recital choreography in January to prepare for the big day on the stage in June. The recital is an exciting time for our students as they get to showcase all of their hard work on stage. Each class will order special costumes for the children to wear on stage. Costumes will be purchased and kept by each family.
